Wah apple ngeluncurin G5 juga akhirnya
Jobs says this is the fastest PC money can buy -- compares it to a
Dell 3.06GHz ($4031). [14:33 ET]

Three Models: 1.6GHz, 80GB HD, 256GB RAM, $1999: 1.8GHZ, 160GB HD,
512GB RAM, $2399; dual 2GHz, 160GB HD, 512MB RAM, $2999. [14:32 ET]

Also featured is an all aluminum enclosure, GeFore FX5200 Ultra in
the low-end, SuperDrive in all, a single white Apple logo on the
side, mesh on the front and back, smaller handles, four separate
thermal zones, breakthrough computer controlled cooling, 9 fans
inside, 35 dBA (twice as quiet as a G4), with independent speed
control.[14:27 ET]

Jobs says you could transfer the entire content of a DVD in a second
off RAM. [14:26 ET]

Dual processors are offered, with up to 8GB of memory (yes, you read
that correctly). [14:25 ET]

The new system features 400 MHz 128-bit DDR memory, AGP 8X Pro
Graphics, 133 MHz PCI-X slots, Serial ATA, and connects to
HyperTransport interconnect. [14:23 ET]

Jobs introduces Dr. John Kelly III, Senior VP of Technology at IBM,
to talk about the chip. [14:19 ET]

The new chip was built in a three million dollar factory in New
York. [14:19 ET]

The G5 is designed for dual processor systems. It offers 215 in-
flight instructions (the G4 can only do 16), an optimized Velocity
engine, two double precision floating points, two fload store units,
massive branch prediction logic, 130 nanometer process, silicon on
insulator, and 8 layer copper interconnects. [14:18 ET]

The G5 runs current 32-bit apps natively, runs up to 2GHz, 1GHz
front-side bus (fastest bus ever says Jobs). [14:16 ET]

For the chip Apple turned to IBM. The G5 is the world's first 64-bit
processor, notes Jobs. [14:15 ET]

"We are delivering today the world's fastest personal computer,"
says Jobs. [14:14 ET]

Jobs says "Maybe some of you noticed something on the Net ... funny
thing happened on our Web site. Premature specification. It was a
mistake, and it is true." [14:13 ET]
